About SheBelieves Cup
The SheBelieves Cup football tournament is set to run between March 5th and March 11th, 2020, and this will be the 5th time the invitational women’s soccer tournament has run. Beginning in 2016, the women football tournament usually runs in late February or early March.
In each edition of the international football tournament, four teams compete to win the SheBelieves Cup. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, the same four teams played – USA, England, Germany, and France. During this period, the US won twice but finished last in 2017 when France won – a complete reversal of the previous year when France finished in fourth place.
In 2019, to show the breadth of women soccer teams, the invited teams changed. England and the USA took on Japan and Brazil, with England ultimately emerging victorious in the international football tournament.
For 2020, England and the US remain as a constant, this time facing competition from Japan (who finished third in 2019) and new entrant Spain.
As with all the previous SheBelieves Cup tournaments, the matches take place in stadiums in the USA. For 2020, these stadiums are in Florida, Texas, and New Jersey.
The tournament is played in a round-robin format with each team playing every other team once, with the overall winner being determined by being top of the league. Should there be a tie with points, goal difference is taken into account, followed by goals scored, head to head results, and finally FIFA rankings.

To gain entry to a national team, players must be the best in their home country. Three of the teams to feature in the 2020 SheBelieves Cup are in the World Top 10, with the lowest-ranked being Spain at 13.
